1. Apr 09,  · Way better than I expected it to be. True, the last true Soft Machine album was Bundles, because Mike Ratledge was still present, but by then he was the only original member left. With the next album, Softs, it's clear who is in control and that was Karl Jenkins/5(83).

3. This is Soft Machine's first venture in guitar driven jazz-rock. It's unjustly maligned by Soft Machine "purists" for it's then commercially more viable sound. When I bought the album in (Vinyl!) I thought it was one of the best fusion albums /5(68).

6. On Softs more than ever before, Soft Machine was Jenkins' band; he composed fully seven of the LP's 11 tracks, making the album a vehicle for his own artistic conception. And yet, as Soft Machine albums go, this one is just fine, thank you.

7. Soft Machine's great couple of studio LPs and their live album for Harvest Records – Bundles, Softs and Alive & Well Recorded In Paris – a nice little 3CD box set! Bundles is the first non-numbered Soft Machine LP, and a record that finds the group moving into electric Miles influenced jazz rock, perhaps more profoundly than ever before.

8. A clear relation is alluded to the previous album when you come to the second track of side 2 called Second Bundle. This album is just as good as the previous Bundles and is yet another high point in Soft Machine's lenghthy career (Vol1&2, third, 6, Bundles, and this one)/5(24).
